SIMMER POTS by Mz Darlene
Why use simmer pots for spells? They are convenient and oh so easy. They're inconspicuous, no one will ever know; and they contain all four of the elements. Earth is represented by the pot itself, Air is the scent you are mixing, Fire is the candle, and Water is the liquid you use in your pot.
There are a few different types of simmer pots, but all can be used in basically the same way. You can use either an oil only simmer or an herb and oil mixture. Herb and oil mixtures are often called ‘dirty’ simmers because of the mess they leave behind.
You should limit yourself to no more than five scents in a blend, at least until you get the hang of using your simmer pot. I have worked some powerful magick with only three scents. Try to limit your blends to a maximum of nine scents. Too many scents can be confusing to mind, body, spirit and magick. Keep your magickal intent in mind while mixing your blend. I find that a simple chant like this one works well. " 'What you are asking for' simmer in the air, 'what you are asking for'†simmer everywhere.' As an example, say I wanted to stir some passion I would say "Passions simmer in the air, Passions simmer everywhere." Even something as simple as to just rhythmically repeat your single word intent (passion, passion, passion) will work.
I don’t use measurements therefore I am cannot pass them on to you. What I will do is explain my way of working. I measure herbs with my hands. Depending on the size of the mortar, I use handfuls or pinches of an herb. I eyeball everything. This means that each time I mix a spell, I get a slightly different mixture. I feel this helps the magick as your actual need is slightly different each time.
Place a handful of your herbal mixture or up to 21 drops of your oil mixture in the pot. Don’t forget your intent! Fill the pot with water, or liquid of choice. (Make sure this liquid is not flammable. Alcohol will not work here.) Place a tea light candle in the proper place, as you light the candle state “I bring together the powers of The Earth, The Air, The Fire, and The Water and ask that they---“(whatever it is you are asking for.)
Don’t forget to thank The Gods for their gifts. Thanking them in advance shows you trust and believe in them
