River Higginbotham
& Jasmine
River has been facilitating ecstatic rituals for many years at gatherings and in public forums. He has been trained through Diana’s Grove Mystery School and served on staff at DGMS where ritual was a key part of the programming for each event. Jasmine has a deep passion for and has been facilitating ecstatic rituals for many years. Jasmine has organized festivals and dance workshops featuring engaging ecstatic rituals. Notable examples of our work are the Opening Ritual for Pagan Picnic 2014 and the main ritual for PSG 2014: Heart and Harmony. These rituals brought many in our community together in wonderful experiences. River and Jasmine are ritual leaders for EarthFire Community and would like to share some of the techniques that made these ritual successful. They want to help others who seek to offer excellent ecstatic rituals for their communities.
-Evoking Ecstatic Ritual
Ecstatic, Experiential, In-the-Body: In ecstatic ritual, a point arrives when everything flows - the song sings you, the drum plays you, the rhythm dances you. Energy builds. Magic happens.
This magic often comes from carefully crafted steps that lay the foundation for surrender to the ecstatic.
Creating ritual that invites participants to engage, deeply, can be done. Even for public rituals. How do you set it up? How do you create safe space?
We’ll work through the steps and do a few experiential exercises.
